Hot Dog! Sen. Reid wants to drive the political baloney bus into New York and tell them who to send to the Senate. The Centrist says that NY should stick with a proven winner like Maloney instead of gambling with a green apple like Gilibrand. My idependents and moderates are of the opinion after watching Gillibrand on the national stage (Sotomayor’s confirmation) that this is one political hot dog that crashed.

The two home state senators from New York – both Democrats – heaped lavish praise on Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor Monday. So much lavish praise, in fact, that Senate Judiciary Chairman Patrick Leahy interrupted Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand’s statement, cutting her off mid-sentence.
Centrist wonders why any NY from the state that has a great history of politicans would even thing about putting a Green Apple politician into the Senate. Do real New Yorkers even care about an endorsement from a Senator from Nevada?
Leahy said the rest of her statement would have to be included in the written record, because he wanted to move on with the hearing.
“May I conclude my statement?” Gillibrand asked.
“If it can be done in one minute,” responded Leahy (D-Vt.), sounding annoyed at the delay.

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Calling her a "rising star in the Democratic caucus," Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid announced Friday that he’s backing Kirsten Gillibrand’s bid to retain her Senate seat in 2010.
“I am endorsing Senator Gillibrand’s campaign because she is a rising star in our caucus,” Reid said in a statement. “As a working mother with two young children, Kirsten brings unique perspective to the challenging issues we are debating in Congress. In just six month, Kirsten has introduced a number of new and innovative legislative approaches to the problems many families face.”
Is this Reid’s endorsement (IMHO)
Reid picked Gillibrand over Rep. Carolyn Maloney, a New York lawmaker who plans to challenge the sitting senator in next year’s Democratic primary. Gillibrand, a former congresswoman, was appointed to the Senate in January to succeed Hillary Clinton.
